I have waxed and waned on my love of sherry many times. My first introduction with sherry was reading Edgar Allen Poe’s The Cask of Amontillado in 9th grade. And then I didn’t come across it again for another 12 years unfortunately. I saw amontillado sherry on a spirits list at a cocktail bar in San Francisco and could only think of literature class. Unlike Poe’s writing, Amontillado Sherry is dry and nutty, ok so maybe it’s exactly like Poe’s writing! I was smitten, love at first sip. I combined it with berries and fresh summer fruit to make this Berry Sherry Cobbler.
The Sherry Cobbler is a classic cocktail that actually popularized the straw for drinking! All of the lush garnishes and crushed ice required a more efficient way to suck up the drink. Sip for yourself with this Berry Sherry Cobbler over on Sugar & Cloth!
